oh tuesday.
-ty had 2 red bulls and 1 xl coffee from dunkin' this afternoon. she threw up midway. not a good idea! even if you're falling asleep at work.
-"A" came back after a brief hiatus from the dentist. she shared the reason why she wasn't able to come for a year was because her oldest daughter, R, was shot in the neck. she was in the passenger seat of a drive-by, the shooters were after the driver. her english is practically native, but in talking about it, stirred up emotions where she could only express that "fue un milagro!" in her native tongue. one bullet grazed and another was lodged in her neck, just missing the nerve that would have caused her to be a vegetable. meanwhile the second daughter, M, whom i saw right after, was locked up for a brief time. she's only 16. anyway, it must be stressful feeling like she has no control over her children. the thing that someone from my world would not understand is that everyone knows who shot R. but no one can say anything. because worse consequences could ensue.
-had a really good lunch today. marinating things longer always helps.
-Z and K were back. they're inseparable. if i had a normal tolerance for awkward situations, then i'd be uncomfortable. but since my career is based on putting my hands in people's mouths, and people's heads are in my lap all day, my tolerance for awkward is pretty high.
-tried soup dumplings (shiao long bao) at dim sum garden today with K. sure it's a grimy joint. service was... humourous. the dumplings were all right.
